From Carini to Monreale

Leaving the city of Carini and entering Palermo, continue along Viale Regione Siciliana to arrive at the town of Monreale, where the austere cathedral with its precious mosaics depicting scenes from the Old and New Testaments, provides an exquisite example of Byzantine art.

Monreale

Next to the cathedral you can visit the Benedictine cloister, a corner of paradise in the countryside where there is a beautiful Moorish fountain and into which you throw a coin expressing a wish. The trip allows time to return to the city for a walk along the Corso Calatafimi to the Catacombs of the Capuchins, famous throughout the world for the level of preservation and cultural and historic value, as well as the Cuba, which provides an example of Sicily’s exclusive Arab-Norman architecture.
